Bhai Takht Malh

Bhai Takht Malh ji was son of Bhai Dharam Das ji, who was from Gujarat (Pakistan). And, Bhai Dharam Das ji was blessed with Sikhi from the Sixth Guru of Sikhs. The weapons which was used by the sixth guru in the wars that all are made by the iron smith and his name was Bhai Bakht Malh, who was a Muslim.

When the army of Mughal empire knew about him, they forcefully hired him. They offer some money to him and because of his greediness he cheated his work profession. After that he made bad quality weapons for Sikh soldiers. The result of this was, when Sikh soldiers used that weapons in the war, weapons broke while using. If they used the sword, the sword was broken and if they use shield to stop the attack of their opponent soldiers then the shield was also broken.

This is a picture of Akal Takhat Sahib that situated in front of Darbar Sahib Amritsar.
Akal Takht Sahib was situated by Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji.

After this, A complaint was lodged with the Guru Ji, that the artisan from whom we manufacture the weapons may have made the bad quality of weapons by taking money from the Mughal government. The weapons that made by him were not capable for the wars. When they investigated the situation, they found that Bakht Mal was now in the side of Mughals, he was traitor.

After that Bhai Takht Malh said,”ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੁੱਝ ਮਾਰਵਾੜੀ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੇ ਮੈਂ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਸਕਦਾ।” (Guru Ji, I know some Marwadi Merchants. I can bring them to make weapons.) He called them for making weapons and one of them was Bhai Ram Singh. Ram Singh made weapons from the period of sixth guru till the period of Tenth guru Guru Gobind Singh ji in Lohgarh Fort.

Takht Malh had one son who named as Fateh Malh. In the time of guru Gobind Singh ji, Fateh Malh baptized and became Fateh Singh. Baba Fateh’s son was Baba Arur Singh. Arur Singh’s son was Sardar Vasara Singh. Vasara Singh had a marriage with Bibi Nihal Kaur. And, Baba Prem Singh Morale was born to their house. This was the family of Baba Takht Malh.
