Turban

Turban is a crown for every Sikh individual. Basically it is a head wear to cover hairs and take care of them. Actually covering and take caring of hairs is a thought that given by Sikh Gurus. Moreover Sikh community has been following this thought to respect and love the gurus.

Turban is not only a cloth.

Every individual has their own way to tie a Dastaar. There are many Punjabi name of Turban like Pagg, Dastaar, etc. Pagg represents the dedication and sacrifices. It shows the full map of Punjab. Punjab is a land of Five Rivers. This land has given birth to many warriors that became the main character of the freedom fight. At one point of time the old name of Punjab was “SONE DI CHIRI” means “THE GOLDEN SPARROW”.

Therefore, tying turban is very usual for Sikh community, even the sikh women also can tie a turban with their own decision. Moreover, there are many types and styles of Dastaar and many other religions also have turban into their religion like Hindu, Muslim, etc. But, dastaar became the identity only for Sikhs. Because anybody did not do that kind of sacrifices that did by Sikh Gurus and Sikh community.

Turban has many shapes like Morni, Patiala Shahi, Amritsar Shahi, Semi Patiala Shahi, and so on, that people tie with their own style or comfort-ness.
